BMT Win Contracts for Two Marine Rescue Vessels
BMT Nigel Gee Ltd are pleased to announce the award of two design contracts with Penguin Shipyard International Pte Ltd (Penguin), a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore's publicly listed high-speed craft specialist, Penguin International Limited.
BMT are collaborating with Penguin to develop the designs of two new highly advanced high-speed fire fighting search-and-rescue vessels for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
The first vessel, a “Marine Rescue Vessel”, is a 35m high-speed monohull with FiFi 1 notation, capable of speeds in excess of 30 knots, continual FiFi operations for 24 hours and capacity for up to 30 survivors.

The second vessel, a “Heavy Marine Rescue Vessel”, is a 40m high-speed catamaran with FiFi 1 notation, capable of speeds in excess of 35 knots, continual FiFi operations for 24 hours and sufficient space to accommodate 300 survivors.
Both vessels will be built and maintained by Penguin and are part of a larger contract that will see fellow Singaporean shipbuilder ST Marine providing a steel “Heavy Marine Fire Vessel”.
